This was a group of highly experimental pieces combining artist's acrylic paint and commercial automotive acrylic lacquer done in 1976. At the time I had a small studio in one of the historic homes on Benefit Street in Providence. I built a spray booth out of a discarded metal wardrobe, added an industrial exhaust fan and ran the exhaust out one of the rear apartment windows. The acrylic lacquer was sprayed using conventional equipment with air from a rather sizeable compressor—big for an apartment... I sprayed during the day when the other tenants were away from the building. Not exactly ideal conditons...
